Every year as a LEGO reseller, you’ve got to make tough calls on what to buy—and I’m telling you straight up: some sets that look “safe” are bonafide stinkers. In this video I break down the biggest mistakes I see beginners make (and yes, seasoned resellers too), like buying mediocre sets that might make a little money instead of stacking quantity on your proven winners. You’re not here to make a little bit of money—you’re here to make a lot of money. I also talk about themes that overdose on themselves and create a fog—Botanicals are the perfect example. There are so many sets floating around that people get lost and start playing the field. I explain why I don’t treat every Botanical set the same, why I personally don’t love the succulents, and why you need to pick your spots instead of buying everything in a crowded theme. Then I hit the timing and pricing traps: don’t load up early in the year (with a few exceptions like my Indiana Jones Plane Chase play), don’t pay full retail unless you’ve got a real plan, and don’t buy anything without doing your own research. To wrap it up, I mention a couple sets I’m actually excited about—especially the Red Bull F1 cars—because sometimes a low entry point (like Speed Champions) can still be a winner when the history is strong and demand is real.
