About This Video

In this video, I’m finally sharing my updated minimal vlog setup—the exact gear and settings I’ve been using consistently for the past six months. I break everything down into what I call my “vlogging trio”: camera body, lens, and mic, because if you nail those three pieces, the look and feel of your videos gets so much easier to control. I’m using the Sony a7c (full-frame, compact, 4K up to 30fps with no crop, and gyro stabilization that works with Sony’s Catalyst Browse), and I also share the settings I personally stick to: 4K 24fps, 1/50 shutter, manual white balance when I can, and ISO auto with a limited range (100–6400) when lighting is changing. For lenses, I explain why I’ve basically lived on the Sony 16–35mm power zoom F4. The power zoom is a game-changer because the lens doesn’t extend, so it stays compact and easy to carry, but I still get flexibility from super wide (16mm) to a medium shot (35mm). I also keep it real about the limitation: F4 can get tricky once the sun starts to set without extra light. Then I go through my small-but-mighty accessories (lens pen, mini hex screwdriver, white balance card), my minimal tripod options, a SmallRig magic arm for more creative angles, and the Loulex organizer bag that’s become my everyday carry because it actually keeps everything structured—not a chaotic tote situation.
