About This Video

In this video, I’m finally sitting down and walking you through what actually goes into the soft, cozy look of my vlogs—because I feel like at the beginning of the year I always start rethinking my whole filming process and the overall vibe of my videos. I share my exact Sony A7C setup (the settings I’ve kept consistent for the past couple years), why consistency matters so much for color grading, and how I’m trying to be more intentional with filming—especially composition—so the shots already feel good before I even touch the edit. Then I show you my color grading process in DaVinci Resolve, and it’s genuinely simpler than people think. I use an adjustment clip so I’m not editing every clip individually, soften the image first (slightly lower saturation/contrast, tweak mid detail), then do exposure adjustments using the scopes. After that, I add warm tones into highlights, lights, and shadows (this is the big shift from my older, cooler look), and I keep a tiny bit of teal/blue in the darkest areas for subtle definition. Finally, I use Hue vs Sat curves to make a few colors pop, then copy the grade to the next scene with a still when the lighting matches.
