About This Video

In this video I’m sharing my essential camera gear for vlogging going into 2026—aka the “best of the best” I’m actually carrying into the new year. I start with my camera body (my Sony A7C that I’ve had for 4–5 years and don’t see myself replacing) and the practical reasons it’s stayed in my cozy productivity workflow: 4K, tons of customization (white balance/ISO), and Sony color that just feels natural to me—especially compared to when I used Canon. I also keep it real about the biggest downside: overheating, and the very unglamorous fix that genuinely saves me while filming. Then I break down the lenses I rotate most: my Sony 16–35 f/4 for convenience and flexible framing, my 24–70 f/2.8 when I want tighter, more cinematic shots and better low-light, and my 20mm f/1.8 prime that I still love for talking head setups. After that, I get into the creative tools that make my edits feel more interactive (like Storyblocks for human-made stock media and templates), plus the audio setup I trust long-term: DJI Mic Minis for consistent wireless audio and my Sony ECM-M1 shotgun mic for an easy, cable-free hot shoe setup. Finally, I share the mini tripod collection I use to get those tight little reset/routine angles (SmallRig magic arm, MantisPod, and a newer Neewer travel-friendly option), plus my everyday “backend” essentials like gray cards for white balance, a lens pen for quick cleaning, and my Amaran 100X studio light for the 10% of filming that happens after natural light is gone.
