In part two of my Christmas party prep mini series, I take you with me to Michaels to shop for all-new Christmas decor (because my mom decluttered our super old stuff last year). I’m pretty simple with decor, so I focused on pieces that feel “one and done”—garlands for the stairs, a wreath moment for the dining room cabinets, and lights that give that full-on “you’re in your car driving through a light show” vibe. Since Christmas decor online can be super hit or miss (cheap-looking or not like the photos), I wanted to play it safe and pick things in person so I can reuse them next year too. Once we’re home, I show the haul and start putting everything together around the house—plus a few Smiski-themed ideas to tie into my annual “Smiskimas” party. Then I move into the cozy, behind-the-scenes prep: cutting and organizing my thank you cards, coaster contest voting cards, and Smiski dollars (and yes, I noticed a print cut-off way too late). I pack green goodie bags with handwritten notes, matcha-to-go packets, and raffle starters, then wrap the prizes—an advent calendar from Beautiful Earth Boutique, the Ultrahuman Ring Air (with sizing kit), and a NuFACE device. It’s festive, a little chaotic, and exactly the kind of creative system I love.
