About This Video

In this video I’m finally getting back to one of my favorite parts of the hobby: houseplant styling. After a month of ā€œputting out firesā€ (catching up on watering, cutting things back, restarting plants, cleaning, and generally recovering my collection from neglect), my dining room plant corner was just… giving clutter. It wasn’t balanced, it didn’t bring me joy, and that old tree lamp was blocking my hanging plants, getting in my way, and making the whole space feel more chaotic than cozy. I swap the eyesore lamp for the newly launched Soltech Aura, an ambient grow light that’s meant to feel relaxing for people while still being a functional grow light for plants. We unbox it together, I test the dimming, and I talk through why I love warm lighting (this one’s a warm white, 3000K) and why I’ve trusted Soltech for years. Then I fully clear the shelf and restyle it with a tighter, more minimal, ā€œcozy nookā€ vibe—gigas in the corner, a little Hoya moment, my mini pingdom, and a few small styling touches like crystals/knickknacks to make it feel intentional. I also start tackling my call shelf, talk honestly about pests, pruning, and how my plant goals have shifted: less cramming and planty clutter, more biophilic spaces I can actually live in—especially in a small home and during dark winter weeks when grow lights really matter.
