About This Video

This video is my full moss pole extravaganza: I basically did six months of moss pole maintenance in two days because I kept putting it off and then suddenly almost every climber in my collection needed something. I start in the living room and work clockwise, tackling a mix of quick extensions (super satisfying) and the bigger “chop and extend” jobs that take more time. You’ll see me extend my Philodendron Florida Ghost, then fully restart my Monstera albo by cutting it down to the top pole and repotting it into LECA in a clear self-watering setup so I can watch the roots come back. I also chop my Marble Queen pothos (she was basically as tall as me), reset my Philodendron José Buono, and talk through why I’m still a moss pole person even though I totally get why some people step away from them. I love climbers, I love seeing them root into something, and nothing makes me happier than watching philodendrons and monsteras size up into big, beautiful leaves. Day two is all about the easier wins—pure extensions (like my Philodendron sp. Silver and Mandula pothos), plus potting up my Philodendron Majestic in Molly’s aroid mix for a wall spot, and finally starting a replacement Philodendron Glorious in semi-hydro because my big one dried out and the pole became more of a “support stick” than an actual rooting substrate.
