About This Video

Hi and hello everybody — it’s Fern. In this cozy end-of-year wrap-up, I’m sharing my top 10 favorite plants of 2025 and why each one really stood out in my collection. My favorites change year to year because plants are so cyclical: sometimes something is thriving and I’m obsessed, and other times I’m chopping it back and restarting from props. This list is the plants that had that “wow” factor for me this year—whether that was insane variegation, ridiculous growth, or finally blooming in my care. I talk through a mix of Hoyas (because you know I can’t help myself), a surprisingly well-behaved Phalaenopsis orchid, some velvety philodendrons, a weird little geometric succulent, and even my pink pinguicula trio that brought such a fun pop of color. A big theme this year was flowering: my Hoya Wilbur Graves, Hoya Matilda Silver, and Hoya Polyneura all gave me blooms, and my Hoya Hush Kana Inner Variegated has basically turned into a constant buttered-popcorn-scented bedtime treat. I also share little care notes as I go—like how I’m growing certain plants in regular room humidity now, how light impacts Florida Ghost coloring, and why I love compact growers like Philodendron gigas for a calmer, less chaotic footprint in my space.
