About This Video

Hi and hello everybody — it’s Fern. In this January houseplant collection walkthrough, I’m taking you around my home to show what’s thriving, what’s being dramatic, and what’s honestly kind of devastating. We’ve had an unusually sunny January (immaculate vibes, aggressive lighting), and you can really see how much the plants are loving it — especially on the plant wall and the VITTSJÖ shelf when the sun hits just right. I share a bunch of real-time updates: my Hoya that are doing the most (hello, Wilbur Graves blooms), slow growers finally pushing new leaves, and a few ongoing rehabs that are finally turning a corner. I also get into some care decisions that are actually making a difference. My variegated maranta is a big win right now — I moved it back under my Soltech lights and it’s thriving, and I talk about why I personally love marantas grown under grow lights (the red color is just… so beautiful). On the flip side, I had a very sad root situation with my variegated Thanksgiving cactus, so I’m trying to save it with cuttings in Molly’s orchid mix. And of course, there are a few classic winter surprises: cabinet watering struggles on sunny/hot days, an alocasia potentially serving spider mite vibes, and a couple of plants getting moved around to chase warmth and light.
