About This Video

In this cozy planty video, I’m walking you through the OG plants in my collection—the ones that have been with me since the beginning and survived the trials and tribulations of early plant parenthood. These are the plants that have lived through four moves (insane) and still show up for me: my Hoya linearis, variegated maranta, Hoya compacta, Alocasia dragon scale, Hoya polyneura, monkey tail cactus, marble queen pothos, Hoya krimson queen, Monstera Thai constellation, and Hoya wayetii. I share what each plant looked like years ago versus now, what conditions they’ve tolerated (including some neglect, let’s be real), and what I’ve learned along the way—like how my linearis can handle drying out but would probably flower if I kept up with watering, how my maranta finally started thriving once I paired pon with a grow light, and why I’ll always defend dragon scale even if it’s “too common” now. You’ll also hear the messy reality: thrips setbacks, flat mites, fertilizer burn suspicion, and the way some plants just need you to start over and try again. The big takeaway is simple: new plants are fun, but there’s a different kind of reward in growing out what you already have. Watching a plant turn into something incredible over years is honestly one of the best parts of this hobby.
