About This Video

In this video I tested Windows 11 on the MacBook Neo using Parallels, and the big headline is: yes, it actually runs—and that’s great news if you’re switching from Windows to Mac but still need Windows-only apps. The A18 Pro chip isn’t really the problem here (it’s ARM, so a lot of stuff still runs surprisingly well). The real limitation is the MacBook Neo being capped at 8GB RAM, because Parallels already wants around 4GB just to run properly. So you’re starting with a tight VM setup, and that’s where the compromises show up. I ran through real apps people care about: Microsoft Office, Excel with bigger sheets (4,000+ rows), and even Visual Studio 2026 because so many of you asked. Office was smooth, Excel loaded complex files a bit slower but stayed stable, and Visual Studio was definitely usable with only minimal delay. I also tested AutoCAD on Windows—light 2D work was more usable than I expected, but I’m being realistic: heavy 3D projects and big workloads will struggle on this maxed-out (but still entry-level) spec. For gaming, I kept expectations in check. Ray tracing is a no-go on this level of power, so I stuck to lighter titles like Stumble Guys and King of Craft around 30 FPS. If you want to install Windows 11 on MacBook Neo, I also walk through which Parallels edition makes sense (Standard vs Pro) and how fast the setup is—basically a one-click install and you can be up in under 30 minutes.
