This week I visited Atlanta, got to produce a shoot, then got to scout and visit friends for future work. On to the next one! I’m a Houston-based cinematographer with 15+ years of experience in commercial, documentary, narrative, and short-form projects. Passionate about visual storytelling, I use this channel to share insights, gear breakdowns, and filmmaking tips with fellow creatives. Inquiries: orlandobriones@gmail.com

About This Video

This week I’m in Georgia on a quick Atlanta run, and it’s one of those trips where you’re moving before the sun’s even up. I woke up at 3 a.m. to catch a 5 a.m. flight, landed around 10, and went straight into a scout. I’m a cinematographer by trade (Houston-based), but on this one I got brought in to produce for an agency I’ve worked with for close to a decade—so it was a fun switch-up being on the producing side while still thinking like a shooter. On set we’re prepping for a portrait shoot, filming overheads, and literally blacking out windows to control the space before a “famous person” sits in. I link up with Zach Wolf from Slooh Rentals—dude’s a gimbal extraordinaire—running a DJI Ronin 2 on an EasyRig/Ready Rig setup. We also check out a super clean truss rod system for overhead shots, and then I get shown this wild tracking robot rig that can boom and move fast (they said up to 21 mph), which makes those smooth tracking moves look effortless. After the shoot day, I’m scouting more Atlanta options for another client—podcast spaces, gear resources, and a stop at MBS to see the scale of what they’ve got. I wrap the week visiting my homie Neil Dearman and renting some really cool lenses. On to the next one.
