I watched 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and, yeah, I’m here to say it: this one doubles down on the weird, questionable stuff the first movie set up—and I loved where it went. It leans hard into a new post-apocalyptic culture where people are fully misguided, tribal, and cult-ish after 20+ years of living in infected chaos. At times it straight-up gave me Mad Max vibes, and I had a blast with how zany, raw, and visceral it gets. This sequel is directed by Nia DaCosta (and trust me, I was shocked too after The Marvels), but she delivers something gritty and fun here—honestly, I liked it more than the first 28 Years Later. Sir Jimmy and his little cult of lunatics are a great expansion of the world, and the movie plays with religious symbolism and the whole “do you blindly follow a leader?” idea. But the MVP is Ralph Fiennes as Dr. Kelson—he steals the entire movie. The third-act Iron Maiden “Mark of the Beast” scene is the kind of memorable, theatrical, messed-up sequence that’ll stick with me for years. I gave it a B+ and I definitely recommend it—especially if you want payoff, gore, and a stronger rewatch factor.
