When I put the Galaxy Watch 7 on my wrist, I honestly wasn’t expecting much. In my head it was going to be another tiny spec bump, a new software version, and maybe a little AI sprinkled in. But after using it for a couple weeks, this ended up being one of the most notable improvements to the Galaxy Watch experience in years—and it’s not because of the design, storage, or even the new sensor. The real story is the new Exynos W1000 processor. Galaxy Watches have felt stagnant since the Watch 4 era, and the random stutters and interface jank genuinely cheapened the whole experience. With Watch 7, the day-to-day smoothness is the first thing you notice: apps load faster, the digital bezel feels more responsive, and even simple stuff like enabling bedtime mode or customizing watch faces doesn’t hang anymore. Battery life, though, is still basically a day to a day and a half, and there’s a notable downgrade: it’s no longer compatible with wireless power share. I also ran into a bug where an app (Google Maps/Assistant) went rogue in the background and murdered battery. Overall, I think Watch 7 is a great upgrade from a Watch 4 or 5—especially with a trade-in—but if you’re coming from a Watch 6 Classic like me, the rotating bezel still makes that decision way less obvious.
