About This Video

In this video I walk you through installing the latest Kali Linux 2025 (currently 2025.3) on any Apple Silicon Mac—M1, M2, M3, M4, or even M5—using UTM. I start by downloading UTM and the Kali installer ISO from kali.org (make sure you grab the Apple Silicon ARM64 installer image). Then I create a new VM in UTM using “Virtualize” (it’s faster since it runs on the native CPU), set my RAM and CPU cores (I use 4GB RAM and 4 cores on a 16GB/12-core Mac), boot from the ISO, and allocate a disk size I recommend at 40GB+ (I use 64GB). The key part is fixing the “display output is not active” issue that can happen when you start the installer. I show the exact fix: stop the VM, edit it, add a Serial device temporarily, then run the VM again and use the little popup console to complete the graphical install. After the base system installs, I pick XFCE (you can choose GNOME or KDE too), reboot, then remove the Serial device and clear the ISO path so it boots cleanly. After that, Kali runs normally and you just log in with the username and password you created.
