In this video I break down my top 3 best Linux distros for gaming in 2026, and I’m ranking them based on what actually matters: gaming performance, driver support, ease of use, and stability. These aren’t “gaming-only” operating systems either—you can still daily-drive them for normal work while getting excellent performance in Steam, emulators, and modern titles. I also timed installs and called out the minimum RAM/storage so you know what you’re getting into before you wipe anything. At #3 I put Garuda Linux, an Arch-based rolling release that gets newer kernels and drivers faster—great for newer hardware—but you’ll see updates often and sometimes you may need to fix small issues (thankfully BTRFS snapshots and Snapper make rollbacks easy). #2 is Bazzite Linux, built on Fedora Atomic, which gives a console-like, super consistent experience with atomic updates and easy rollbacks, though it can feel different if you’re used to normal package management. My #1 pick is Nobara Linux because it’s the best out-of-the-box gaming distro: it ships with the tweaks, tools, and optimized NVIDIA/AMD drivers so you can game with way less setup stress. If you want the easiest recommendation for most people, I’m going Nobara.
