About This Video

In this video I walk you through installing the latest Kali Linux (2026.1) on any Windows PC using VMware Workstation Pro. I start from scratch: grabbing the Kali 2026.1 installer ISO from kali.org, then downloading VMware Workstation from Broadcom (since Broadcom is now the parent company). I also point out the key thing a lot of people miss—Workstation Pro is free for personal use now, but you’ll need to sign in or create a Broadcom account to access the download. After that, I build the VM the simple way using the “Typical” setup, select the ISO, and set the OS type to Linux with Debian 64-bit (Debian 13 x64 works fine). I show you how I size the virtual disk (I use 40GB) and how I allocate resources without killing the host PC—don’t go over about 40% of your RAM/CPU if you want Windows to stay smooth. Then we run the Kali graphical installer, set language/keyboard, create the user, do guided partitioning (entire disk, all files in one partition), pick a desktop (I stick with XFCE), install GRUB, reboot, and log in. That’s it—fast, hands-on, and working.
