In this video I show you how to install the latest Kali Linux (2026.1) inside VirtualBox on a Windows PC, and I cover both ways people actually do it: the prebuilt VirtualBox VM and the full installer ISO. First I walk you through grabbing VirtualBox from virtualbox.org and then downloading Kali from kali.org. If you want Kali up immediately with zero manual setup, I use the prebuilt VirtualBox image—extract it, run the tiny starter file to import it, then tweak settings like RAM and CPU before you boot. I also show the installer method for people who want to set everything exactly how they want it. I create a new VM (Linux > Debian 64-bit), set sane resources (I recommend staying around 40% max for RAM/CPU so your host Windows machine doesn’t crawl), choose my own disk size (I used ~35GB), and attach the 4GB installer ISO under Storage. Then I run through graphical install, guided partitioning, picking XFCE as the desktop, installing GRUB to /dev/sda, and logging in. By the end you’ll have Kali running in VirtualBox either the fast prebuilt way or the clean-from-scratch installer way.
