Morning folks—day seven of seven, and we actually made it. This final vlog is a proper mix of homestead graft and wildlife photography, with me starting the day by checking the new badger spot I only set up yesterday. I’d chucked a few peanuts down late on, everything had gone, and when I pulled the card… get in. A badger on the camera already. For me, badgers have always been a bit of a nemesis species—nocturnal, tricky, and I’ve had more fox success around setts than badger photos—so having one visiting the garden feels a bit special. After a quick session in the hide, I left the Nikon Z9 running on auto capture while we cracked on with jobs—sorting the path, weed membrane, and the usual bits around the beds (plus a few “anorexic” carrots). Then the stars aligned: one of the sparrowhawks dropped in and hung around for a good 20 minutes, preening and hunting under the logs. It didn’t land on the perch I’d planned (typical), but I still got loads of shots and even a few flight frames by zooming out for habitat, widening the focus area, and pushing shutter speed up around 1/3200. And then, the painful bit—editing the last daily upload and tipping my hat to anyone who does this every day.
