About This Video

Morning folks—Day 4 at The Glyn and it’s one of those proper “never a dull moment” days. We’ve had a load of rain, the stream’s pumping, and the wind is biting. I start off doing the usual rounds: checking the camera for that sparrow, topping up the feeders, and cracking on with a few jobs while we wait for a big timber delivery. I get sidetracked (as you do) and manage to get a couple of chunky 6x6 posts in for the steps—postcrete job, nice and simple, chuck it in dry and water it down. The main event is a delivery of 50 live-edge larch boards. I always like having wood on site—get more than you need because it’ll get used, and it stops you losing momentum when you fancy knocking something up. We then head out with the trailer to collect trees (to go along a boggy path and help soak the ground up) and pick up organic fertiliser from Lohas—made from poultry manure with enzymes, no smell, and I’m keen to see what it does for the beds and polytunnel this year. To round it off, I grab the Nikon Z9 with the 180–600 and spend an hour in the hide… and get absolutely nothing. Typical Wales—tips it down, midges in March, and you’re reminded: you’ve got to be in it to win it.
