How we doing folks? This week’s film was proper last minute and, honestly, it’s not gone to plan at all. I’d had ideas of getting out on the Northern Ireland coastline around Groomsport for a bit of wildlife photography (I was really hoping for some cracking drake eider), but the timing were wrong and the weather were horrible—so that just didn’t happen. Instead, I’ve brought you along for a homestead update: a quick look in the polytunnel where Dawn’s been flat out clearing beds, potting up strawberries, and getting us set for tomatoes that have come up on the windowsill while we were away. From there I head up to the meadow hide area and show you the latest tweaks—dropping the buzzard log perch because, let’s be honest, buzzards can be really fickle. I also explain an exciting new little raptor project: I’m trying to improve my chances of getting a clean, unobscured shot of a sparrowhawk by sorting the perch placement (perches make a massive difference to how a photo finishes). I’ve had trail cams running while we’ve been away, so we check in on what’s been visiting—because looking at trail cam footage is like Christmas morning. I finish off with a wander into Shepherd’s Hut progress (cupboards, paint, and a Salamander Hobbit stove arriving next week) and we do the prize draw for the pocket spoon giveaway.
