After a full day of digging, humping gear up to the hide site and constructing the elevated pool structure it came to the next phase in the project. This required turning what was basically a sheet of wood on some pallets into a realistic woodland pool setting that would look convincing enough to photograph some of the many birds that come to feed at the hide. We head off into the woods to collect foliage and props and also during a brief rain stop check out a new trail cam from Ceyomur that was sent to me to test. Can we complete the task in under 48hr?? Grab a brew, put your feet up and join me as we attempt to complete what will hopefully be a worthy addition to the meadow photography hide. About This Video

Morning folks — in this one I’m back up at the meadow hide site trying to get this elevated drinking/bathing pool finished off. Part 2 is all about turning what was basically a sheet of wood on pallets into something that actually looks like a proper woodland pool. I add timber around the edge to create a bit of depth (I’m right at the limit — about 2 inches max), then I protect the liner with old sheets and underlay, staple the pond liner in, and start the slow process of getting the levels bang on with watering cans and a few micro-adjustments. While the rain’s chucking us a googly, I also go through a proper field review of the Ceyomur CY95 trail camera that they sent me to test. For me, trail cams are a second pair of eyes 24/7, and the big win here is the solar panel and the Wi‑Fi app setup — I can aim it and check footage on my phone without disturbing the camera. I’ve had two out for a couple of months (one in really diffused woodland light and one in full sun) and the charge difference was only about 5%, which genuinely surprised me. I finish by dressing the pool with natural props — moss, roots, logs, ferns — because bare soil is the enemy of authenticity, and the whole point is to make it look like nature did it, not me.
