I’ve been using the Sony a7 IV as my main photo and video camera for nearly two years, so in this video I answer the real question: would I still buy it in 2024? For me, it’s about how close this camera gets to the “perfect hybrid” setup for someone who shoots both YouTube and photography. A big reason I love the a7 IV is the 33MP sensor. Compared to a lot of cameras in this category that sit around 24MP, the extra resolution gives me way more room to crop, and I even use crop mode as a built-in “range extender” for longer lenses while still keeping a solid megapixel count. I also talk through customization—being able to program buttons differently for photo vs video, and using custom video modes so I can basically flip to my 24p or 60p Log setup and start rolling.
