About This Video

K&F Concept sent me their magnetic filter kit to test, and in this video I’m putting it through a real-world landscape workflow to see if the “snap on” magnetic system is actually as game-changing as it sounds. The big win here is speed: instead of screwing filters on and off (and missing shots while you fumble with threads), you just mount the base plate once and then the filters click on magnetically. I tested the 5-in-1 Nano X set (ND8, ND32, ND64, ND1000, and a graduated ND8) plus their magnetic CPL, and I’ll show you exactly how I’d use each one in the field. I break it down into three practical tricks. First, using an ND filter like sunglasses for your lens so you can slow your shutter and get that silky smooth water in landscapes without blowing out your exposure. Second, the graduated ND (GND) to control a bright sky in high dynamic range scenes—basically like a Lightroom gradient, but smoother and better to get right in-camera. Third, a circular polarizer to cut glare and reflections (water, glass, cars) and add a bit of contrast and saturation. Overall, I’m sold on magnetic filters for convenience, and at around $140 for the kit, it’s hard for me to justify paying way more when I’m not seeing a noticeable difference compared to pricier options I’ve used before. Just keep in mind: stacking filters can cause vignetting, especially on wider lenses.
