In this video I’m breaking down whether the SIRUI Nightwalker lenses are actually worth it in 2025, after using the 24mm Super 35 T1.2 cinema lens for the past 4 months. This was my first cinema lens and I originally bought it while building out a cinema rig on my Sony a6400. Since upgrading to the FX30, it’s basically become my main lens for a ton of stuff—especially b-roll for my YouTube videos. I talk about what you’re really getting for around $300: surprisingly solid build quality (all metal, compact, lightweight), and the cinema-style usability like geared rings, a long focus throw, and fully linear manual focus. Manual focus did take me a few weeks to get comfortable with, and I still find it kind of annoying for filming myself, but behind the camera it’s been awesome. Image-wise, I think it looks beautiful. The T1.2 gives you really creamy out-of-focus areas, it’s not razor sharp like most photo lenses (which I actually like), and it has some “character”—especially in the way it handles flares. If you already own a great photo lens at the same focal length, you don’t need this, but for crop-sensor filmmaking it’s a super fun, easy-to-justify pickup.
