In this video I’m checking out GYRO by 10K Audio, a brand new VST instrument that combines generative chords + MIDI patterns with high-quality sound sources and effects in one modular system. 10K Audio did send me a license, but this isn’t sponsored and they had zero influence on what I’m saying. I start with live sound demos (one made with Play and one with Pro) so you can hear what it can do when you’re literally just holding down a note and switching chords. After that I walk through how GYRO is built: each preset has four patterns, up to 14 chord slots, five sound sources, and eight effects. The big thing is the modularity—you can change chords without changing patterns, swap patterns without touching chords, and randomize parts independently until you land on something that actually hits. Then I put it to the test and cook up a full beat: I grab the progression as MIDI/audio, make a variation with and without the built-in bass layer, and build the rest with extra instruments, vocals, and drums. I also break down pricing (Play is $10, Pro is $150) and give you my pros and cons. I love the sound engine, the sleek UI, the randomization workflow, and the fact you can import your own sounds and even drive external instruments via MIDI. My main complaint is the chord presets: they often feel like only 2–3 real chords with variations, and the chord layout can feel random across the keyboard.
