About This Video

In this video I’m showing you one of my new favorite Kontakt libraries for making interesting and unconventional synth beats: “The Creator” from Oblique (London Rain). I start by demoing presets and then break down how the library is laid out inside Kontakt—main, mix, and effects—so you actually understand what’s happening instead of just hearing random sounds. The big idea is simple: you can pick three sound sources, layer them, and crossfade between them with that triangle control, then push it further with randomize, modulation, and effects. After the overview, I test it in a real Ableton Live 12 session and build a beat around it. For me, this library shines most as a “sparkle on top” tool—accents, ear candy, and unique texture layers—rather than your everyday bread-and-butter sounds, even though you can absolutely make full melodies with it (and I show that). I also go over pricing and the free version: full is around $65 with 200+ sound sources and ~100 presets, and there’s a free demo with 21 sources and 20 presets. Just remember: it’s a Kontakt library, so you need the full version of Kontakt 6.8 or higher to run it.
