In this video I’m reviewing Fraction, a brand new sample-based instrument made by Provime x Prototype Audio. I walk you through a full preset demo, how the plugin actually works, and what makes it different from the usual “preset player” vibe. Fraction comes with 50+ factory presets (plus expansions at launch), and every preset is built from two sampled sound sources that you can blend and shape with the XY pad for crossfading + filter movement. I also show the advanced page (deep sampling per key, ADSR, blending) and the built-in effects like saturation, delay, and reverb for quick flavor. The real sauce for me is the lower section: Fractalize to chop the sound instantly, one-click Smooth/Color to either tuck sounds into the mix or make them pop, plus mono glide, pitch mod, and the Shutter button that randomizes parameters and usually lands on usable results. I also break down a full melody I made using only Fraction (piano + pad layers, bass, a violin, and a B section with halftime + a different bass and synth). My verdict: the sample synths are insanely crisp and clean with basically no filler presets, the UI is super aesthetic, but early adopters might run into minor bugs. At $89 it’s priced right—great if you already own bread-and-butter stuff like Analog Lab and want something fresh, but beginners should probably start with Analog Lab or Sky Keys for overall value.
