About This Video

In this video, I tested the Maono PD100W to answer a super simple question: can you actually hear a difference between using it wireless vs wired? The mic can run either way, so I did quick sound swaps while it was hooked up to my iPhone—first in wireless mode, then wired—so you can listen at home and decide for yourself. The “theoretical” answer is wired should be better because you’re not dealing with wireless data transfer, but what matters is whether that difference is obvious in real-world use. After listening back (especially on really nice headphones), I could tell the wired mode is very, very slightly better. But the difference is honestly not big enough to matter unless you’re really nitpicking and paying close attention. The wireless quality is already good enough that I’d just use wireless most of the time for convenience. I also demo the built-in noise cancelling at three levels by turning on a fan and toggling settings, plus I go over the basic controls: volume, mute, monitoring with headphones, USB-C for charging/connection, and even RGB lighting. Overall, it’s straightforward, and the main takeaway is: if you can’t tell the difference on YouTube with real-world compression, it probably doesn’t matter—go wireless and make your life easier.
