In this video I’m jumping into Highguard, a brand-new FPS (or… FPS-ish) game, and I’m basically learning it the hard way. I start in the tutorial with zero clue what I’m doing—messing with the ADS multiplier, realizing I didn’t hit apply, and immediately noticing how slow the aim-down-sights feels at default. The game throws a lot at you early: grenades, rockets for breaking walls, farming “Vesper” currency, reinforced vs. regular walls, and this whole “warden power” thing where I’m basically sounding like Wolverine while I pop my ability. After training, I hop into 3v3 and it turns into this weird mix of base siege + objective play. You reinforce your base, ride mounts, wait for the shield breaker to spawn, then try to crack the enemy dome and plant/defend bombs on generators. I’m not going to pretend I’m cracked at it—I die, I make bad pushes (shooting rockets from a horse was… not it), and the pacing feels kind of slow with the forced downtime between pushes. By the end, I’m still on the fence: it was interesting, the destruction is fun, but the whole loop feels overly complicated in some ways, and I kept thinking Apex is just faster.
