In this video I’m trying to answer the simple question: what’s the best DAC/amp under $200 going into 2026? I’m comparing the usual suspects—like the FiiO K7 and FiiO K11—with a newer contender, the Fosi Audio ZH3. The ZH3 is immediately interesting because it’s nicely built, it has a screen, and the volume dial is actually smooth and satisfying to use. It’s also fully balanced, so you’re getting more power than a lot of the typical budget options, but the tradeoff is it can get pretty hot. The ZH3 also leans hard into features. You get onboard EQ (bass and treble adjustments), plus a bunch of AKM-style digital filters—around six or seven—that let you shift the tone brighter, warmer, or more natural depending on what you like. That customization is genuinely useful if you want to tweak how your headphones sound without messing with software. But from my testing, the extra processing means it’s not quite as precise or detail-focused as a more direct-sounding option. One unit I talked about is also the worst sounding of the bunch (likely because of the mic port), but if you game and need a microphone input plus easy volume control, it’s still the most straightforward pick for that use case.
