In this video I’m testing out something I think a lot of you are going to like: Pale Blue AAA and AA rechargeable batteries that charge over USB-C. I show you the carrying case (which I really like), the included multi-USB-C charging cable, and the actual USB-C port built right into the battery. I plug them into a portable power bank so you can see the blinking green light that lets you know they’re charging, and the best part is you can charge multiple batteries at the same time. Then I swap out my regular Energizer alkaline batteries and drop the Pale Blue cells into my device to see how they perform. They’re 1.5V lithium-ion, so the power feels strong and “fresh” after a charge, and the use case is simple: they’ll last like a normal battery, but instead of throwing them away you just recharge them and they’re basically brand new again. I also go over safety and travel tips—these need to go in your carry-on—and I mention protections like overcharge and short-circuit protection. If you travel or you’re tired of constantly buying batteries, this is a really solid solution.
