About This Video

Warhammer 40K might be the granddaddy of grimdark, but in this video I’m digging into the brand new contender that’s basically kicked the internet door off its hinges: Trench Crusade. I break down what it actually is, why it exploded (we’re talking a $66,666 goal turning into over $3.3 million from 20,000 backers), and why so many 40k and wargaming people have instantly latched onto it. I also give a quick warning up front: this setting leans hard into horror, war, famine, and heavy religious imagery—so it’s not exactly “show the kids the cool soldiers” territory. From there, I deep dive the lore (Knights Templar, the Gates of Hell opening in 1099, the Black Grail, New Antioch, paladins made from cloned flesh and blood of the Son of God… yeah, it goes places), the absolutely striking art direction, and then my favourite bit: the minis. I run through the six warbands and the vibes they bring, from Heretic Legions and the Black Grail to New Antioch and the iconic Trench Pilgrims (hello, shrine anchorite). I also talk rules: skirmish-sized warbands, free living rules online, and a simple 2d6 resolution system that genuinely feels less intimidating than endless statlines. If you want in on the hype-train, I point you to where to start and how to join the community chaos.
