About This Video

When people picture “loyalist” Space Marines, it’s usually shiny heroes, clean armour designs, and a nice, simple “good guys vs bad guys” vibe. But I genuinely disagree — 40K is still a spooky, mysterious horror setting, even when the Imperium is the protagonist. So in this video I run through my personal favourite freaky, spooky, and just plain strange Loyalist chapters that prove loyalty doesn’t stop you being haunted, bloodthirsty, secretive, or deeply terrifying. I dig into chapters like the Exorcists, who literally harden themselves against Chaos by allowing temporary daemonic possession (yeah, it’s as horrifying as it sounds), and the Angels Resplendent, whose artistic culture gets obliterated after meeting the “Undying Martyr,” spiralling into the Angels Penitent and a rampant Black Rage problem. I also talk about the unluckiest sad boys in the galaxy, the Lamenters; the Sons of Medusa and their techno-prophecy baggage; the mysteriously redacted Rainbow Warriors; the deep-ocean nightmare fuel of the Dark Krakens; and the Mortifactors — loyalist Ultramarines successors who are, frankly, freaky weirdo triple freak weirdos. And yes: I painted every single chapter on this list, so there’s a tiny-scale painting video coming soon.
