If you’ve ended up in my little corner of the internet, you’re probably as obsessed with tiny paintable goodness as I am—usually that means Warhammer and keeping tabs on Golden Demon. But recently my channel’s taken a slight (huge) Mobile Suit-shaped detour, because I’ve properly fallen in love with Gunpla. So when I found out Bandai has their own “Golden Demon” called the Gunpla Builders World Cup (GBWC), I had to tune in for the grand finale in Tokyo… and mate, it was NOT what I expected. In this video I basically take you on a virtual trip to the GBWC awards ceremony, and we talk about why the show was so wild—from the high-budget venue and light show, to the absolutely unhinged (in the best way) opening act: a full-blown Japanese idol performance. Yes, Bandai apparently has an official Gunpla idol group. I also dig into what I think hobby competitions should steal from this event: the way they introduce every competitor, the massive celebration for winners, and—most importantly—the judges actually explaining why entries won, with big high-def visuals so you can learn along at home. And of course, I show off my favourite winning builds across the categories, including jaw-dropping dioramas, insane kitbashing (with no 3D printing allowed), and a couple of entries that genuinely nuked my socks from orbit. It’s inspiring, it’s chaotic, and it’s made my hyperfixation hit 100% again—so yes, I’m coming for my region this year.
