About This Video

I still think it’s kind of insane that we can go from “I need a part” to a real, functional object in the same day. In this video I put that idea to the test with what’s basically the bottom of Bambu Lab’s lineup: the A1 Mini. It’s a $250 bedslinger with a 180mm build volume, and I wanted to see how much of my X1 Carbon experience actually trickles down to the cheapest option. I go over the hardware, the built-in camera (definitely a downgrade vs the X1, but still useful), and the stuff that actually matters for print quality—Bambu’s presets, slicing workflow, and how hands-off it is once you pick the right settings. Then I run real prints: PLA first (because that’s what most people will use), and honestly the results are mind-blowing for the price—quiet, fast, and nearly flawless layers with no obvious seams or blobs. I also test PETG and talk about why humidity becomes the real enemy, plus what that means if you don’t have a heated AMS-style setup yet. I even try nylon composite materials with a hacked profile, and while it’s functional, the stringing/blobbing shows why drying and environment matter. If you don’t need huge parts or ABS, the A1 Mini is kind of a steal.
