This is the clearest, craziest VR headset that I've tested. About This Video

I’ve been daily-driving the Bigscreen Beyond 2 on my overkill racing sim because it nails the stuff that actually matters in VR: OLED, great pancake lenses, and that “everything just looks right” clarity. But Pimax sent over the new swappable modules for the Crystal Super, and that’s the whole hook here—you can hot-swap the entire optical assembly (display + lenses) in seconds and basically upgrade the headset over time. I tested two modules: an ultrawide QLED option with a claimed 140° horizontal FOV, and the one I was most excited about—Sony micro-OLED with a new concave pancake lens design. The ultrawide module absolutely does feel more open than the usual 100–110° headsets, and in a sim it genuinely helps you read the car’s motion and balance a bit more naturally. But a lot of that extra FOV isn’t super “usable” because it gets softer and fringier at the edges, and the QLED look still feels a bit washed out compared to OLED. Then I swapped to the Crystal Super OLED module and… yeah. This is the best-looking VR headset I’ve ever seen. The sweet spot is massive, the lenses are the most comfortable I’ve looked through, and the 4K-per-eye clarity finally feels “retina” enough that fine textures and distant detail stop shimmering. The catch is obvious: it’s expensive, it’s bulky, and you need a ridiculous GPU—my 5090 was still sweating in modded Assetto Corsa—but for sims, it’s currently top of the food chain.
