About This Video

In this video I show you how to install Twitch as a desktop app so you don’t have to keep opening a browser tab every time. I’m on my Windows desktop (yeah, it’s cluttered—don’t pay attention to that) and I show what the Twitch “app” looks like when it’s installed: it opens in its own window just like a normal program. Then I uninstall it first, so you can see the whole process from scratch. I walk you through two easy methods: Chrome and Edge. In Chrome, you log into Twitch, hit the three-dot menu, go to “Cast, save, and share,” and choose “Install page as app,” then click Install. In Edge, you go to the three-dot menu, “More tools,” “Apps,” then “Install this site as an app.” After that, Edge lets you pick options like pinning to the taskbar, pinning to Start, creating a desktop shortcut, or auto-starting on login—use your own judgment there. Once you allow what you want, Twitch is installed and you can launch it straight from your desktop.
