In this video I show you exactly how to enable or disable location tracking in Windows 10—quick, no-fluff. I jump over to my desktop and go straight to the setting that matters: location access for the device. If you’re trying to lock things down for privacy, or you just don’t want Windows and apps pulling your location in the background, this is the switch you’re looking for. I start by right-clicking the Start icon, opening Settings, then heading into Privacy. From the left pane under App permissions, I click Location. In the main panel you’ll see “Allow access to location on this device” with a Change button—this is where you can toggle location services on or off. I also point out that turning off device location access also toggles off “Allow apps to access your location,” and if you keep location on, you can scroll down and individually toggle which apps can use your precise location. There’s also a separate toggle for “Allow desktop apps to access your location,” so you can control that too.
