About This Video

In this video I show you how to install Google Search as a desktop app on a Windows PC, so you can open Google without firing up a full browser window every time. I start on my desktop (yeah, it’s cluttered—don’t pay attention to that) and show what the Google desktop app looks like when you launch it. It’s basically the Google search page in its own app window, with the same features you’re used to. I walk through two ways to do it: Chrome and Edge. In Chrome, you go to google.com, make sure you’re logged in, hit the three-dot menu, hover over “Cast, save, and share,” then click “Install page as app” and install it. In Edge, you go to google.com (logged in), three-dot menu, “More tools” → “Apps” → “Install this site as an app,” then choose where you want it pinned (taskbar, Start, desktop shortcut, etc.). I also quickly show uninstalling it from Windows installed apps so you can remove it anytime.
