About This Video

In this video I show you how to install Google Keep as a desktop app, so you can open your notes like a real app instead of keeping another browser tab hanging around. I start on my desktop (yeah, it’s cluttered—don’t worry about it) and I show what the Keep app looks like once it’s installed. It’s still Google Keep with the same features and functions you’re used to in the browser, it’s just packaged as a standalone app you can launch anytime. I walk through two ways to do it: Chrome and Edge. In Chrome, you just go to Google Keep, make sure you’re logged in, then either hit the install icon in the address bar or go to the three-dot menu > Cast, save, and share > Install Google Keep. In Edge, it’s the same idea: address bar install icon, or three-dot menu > More tools > Apps > Install Google Keep. After Edge installs it, you get options like pinning to the taskbar/start menu, creating a desktop shortcut, and auto-starting on login—use your own judgment there. Once it’s installed, you can double-click the desktop shortcut and Keep opens up as its own app.
