About This Video

In this video, I show you how to add a custom desktop background image in Windows 11, start to finish, without any fluff. I jump onto the desktop and first do one quick thing a lot of people skip: I check the display resolution so you know what size wallpaper will look best. I right-click an empty spot on the desktop, open Display settings, and under Scale and layout I look at Display resolution (mine is 1920x1080). If you want your wallpaper to look clean and not stretched, matching your image to that resolution helps. After that, I walk you through the exact clicks to set your custom picture. You right-click the Start icon, go to Settings, then hit Personalization on the left. From there, click Background, make sure it’s set to Picture, pick your fit (I use Fill), and then click Browse photos next to Choose a photo. Select the image you want, click Choose picture, and you’re done—custom wallpaper applied in just a few clicks so you can get back to work.
