About This Video

In this video, I show you how to add a custom wallpaper (desktop background image) in Windows 11—quick and no-fluff. Before you even pick an image, I recommend you check your display resolution so your wallpaper actually fits and doesn’t look stretched or blurry. I do that by right-clicking an empty spot on the desktop, clicking Display settings, and looking at the Display resolution (mine shows 1920 x 1080). After that, I walk you straight through the Personalization settings. Right-click the desktop again, hit Personalize, click Background, and make sure you’re set to Picture. From there, you can choose how the image fits (I use Fill), then click Browse photos, pick the image you want, and hit Choose picture. That’s it—your custom background is applied in just a few clicks so you can get back to work.
