About This Video

In this video, I show you how to activate, deactivate, or customize the Panic Button in the Opera GX web browser on a desktop PC. The whole point of this feature is simple: you press F12 and Opera GX instantly hides, mutes, and pauses your active tabs, then swaps your screen over to “safe” bland content. Press F12 again and it snaps you right back to exactly where you were, so it’s basically a quick cover-up toggle when you need it. I walk you straight to where the setting lives: click the red O logo in the upper-left, go to Settings, make sure you’re on GX Basics on the left, then scroll down in the center until you see Panic Button. From there you can toggle the feature on or off completely, and you can also control what pages it opens by editing the link list. You can replace the default URLs, add new ones, or delete any entry with the trash can—so the Panic Button takes you to the exact “safe” pages you want.
