In this video I unbox and take my very first ride on the Hey Bike Mars 3.0—an adventure-style folding fat tire e-bike that’s supposed to handle a little bit of everything (on-road and light off-road). I got the idea after seeing tons of people cruising around the paddock at VIR during track days and thinking… genius. We walked a ton that weekend, so having a folding e-bike you can toss in the trunk and use to get around the track grounds would be such a game changer. I start out riding it like a normal bicycle with the motor off just to get a feel for it, then I turn it on, show how the battery/key setup works, and run through the assist modes (eco, touring, standard, sport—turbo exists but I’m not going there on day one). The throttle honestly surprised me—in the best way—but I also share my biggest gripe: turning and tight U-turns. The geometry/handlebar setup made it feel “horsey,” and it reminded me of my first motorcycle U-turns (humbling). My takeaway: it’s a super budget-friendly, beginner-friendly e-bike that’s awesome for cruising and saving energy, especially for track days, but it’s not meant for aggressive off-road riding.
