About This Video

It’s officially been a full year since I upgraded from my Yamaha MT-03 to my BMW F800GS, and in this video I’m giving you the real “living with it” update—where it’s taken me, what I’ve learned as a still-newish rider, and if I’d buy it again. Comfort-wise, this bike has been awesome. The upright seating and ergonomics make it one of those bikes I can ride for hours without feeling totally destroyed after, and it has enough power to keep me happy on the highway without feeling like I’m riding above my skill level. I also talk about why this bike fits my life so well: it’s been a weekend adventure machine and a legit daily commuter. Storage was a huge reason I upgraded (I’m a teacher and I carry a lot), and having side bags and a tail bag makes commuting way easier than dealing with a backpack. I share highlights like riding solo to the BMW training at High Country Motorcycle Camp (major confidence builder), plus our trip to VIR for MotoAmerica—where I did my first on-track laps and was, honestly, super terrified at first. One year later: I’d buy the F800GS again 100%—it’s versatile, manageable, and it’s opened the door to so many experiences I just couldn’t do on my beginner bike.
