Let’s talk cornering — one of the skills I’m still working on as a newer rider. If you're anything like me, cornering can feel intimidating, especially at slower speeds or tighter turns. In this video, I’m sharing the beginner mistakes I made (and still sometimes make), some simple drills that helped me feel more in control, and the tips that actually made a difference in my riding. This isn’t coming from a pro — it’s from someone who’s still learning, just like you. 🖤 What I cover in this video: 0:00 - 0:50- Intro 0:50-2:33 - Beginner Mistakes 2:33 - 3:41- Slow-Speed Drills 3:41 - 5:30 - Helpful Tips 5:30 - 5:50 - Closure Don’t forget to: • Like this video • Subscribe to my channel | @nicoleashley_moto 🔔 Hit the notification bell so you don't miss any new content. About This Video

Cornering is one of those skills that looks super easy… until you’re the one doing it. In this video, I went back to the same parking lot where I learned to ride and took my MSF course to work on my cornering technique. You can’t fully replicate real road-speed cornering in a parking lot, but slow-speed practice is still so valuable—especially when you’re a newer rider like me and you just want enough confidence to stop freaking out when you see a curve sign. I break down the beginner mistakes I’ve struggled with (and honestly still do sometimes): tensing up and fighting the bike, target fixation (thinking I’m looking where I want to go… and realizing I’m not), and choppy inputs like jerky throttle or slamming brakes mid-turn. Then I share the drills we worked on—cone weaves, offset weaves, U-turns, and figure eights—because they force clutch control, balance, and looking through the turn. I’m not trying to corner like a pro. I share what’s helping me: braking early so I’m at a comfortable speed, downshifting and setting up early, holding steady throttle through the corner while countersteering, and rolling on as I exit. More than anything, it’s seat time—and breaking the corner into setup, look, and exit so it feels manageable.
