About This Video

What's going on good people—Ebs here, Mr. RemoteLife. In this video I’m doing a quick proof-of-concept setup with the Ubiquiti Power Amp and the UniFi Audio Port, because I’ve got a customer install coming up. Their house is pre-wired for whole-home audio, but it’s basically all one zone right now, so I spec’d a simple setup: one amp plus an audio port. I also hadn’t seen many real videos on the Audio Port yet (it’s newer), so I wanted to show what the setup actually looks like from unboxing to sound. I walk through getting both devices online using the UniFi Play app, and here’s the big takeaway: you can run this as a standalone system without a UniFi console. I used a little portable hotspot so the amp and port live on their own Wi‑Fi network, then I updated firmware (first thing I do with any IoT gear) and created a zone so everything plays together. I also show the included banana plugs (they’re heavy, all metal, and feel super solid), test audio on a pair of Triad R28 speakers, and talk through how I’d set master volume vs. in-room knobs so you keep headroom when someone wants to crank it.
