About This Video

What’s going on guys, EBS here—Mr. RemoteLife. In this one I’m solving a simple problem: I’ve got a single outlet in a single gang box, and I want more plugs without opening up the wall. So I walk you through swapping that standard receptacle for a Leviton-style “four-banger” (four-port receptacle) and getting it mounted clean in the same box. I break down the exact tools I’m using—my Klein Tools ratcheting 15‑in‑1 screwdriver, my old trusty easy strippers, and a socket tester—because I’m not trying to get zapped today. The real “fun” part was tracking down the right breaker. Turns out I had a labeling issue (kitchen GFCI was actually killing the garage), and I also had to keep my fiber-to-copper internet box powered so I didn’t end up with an internet service call. Extension cord to the truck generator… things we do, boy. Once the circuit was dead, wiring was straightforward: two blacks, two whites, and a ground—match blacks to brass, whites to silver, and button it up. I also show the little gotchas, like punching out the tab and using the long skinny screws that come in the pack. Then I turn power back on and test it so you know you’re good. Quick upgrade, big payoff—let’s get it installed.
