About This Video

What’s going on good people—Ebibs here, Mr. RemoteLife. In Episode 1 of this School Studio Build series, I’m kicking off a full audio engineering lab build-out for a school here in Charlotte. We started over Christmas break 2024 (it’s 2025 now), and I’m finally in a spot where I can start editing and showing y’all the progress. I walk you through the space as it sits now—currently a copy room—and the plan to flip it into a production lab for the kiddos, including a small vocal booth area with a see-through window. The school system didn’t want the existing cabinets removed, so the principal said “build over it,” and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I show the mockup, the wall framing approach, and how I’m expanding the window cutout to fit a big sheet of polycarbonate for the booth window. I also found a clean route into the room and I’m using CAT racks to bring XLR connections to and from the booth. By the end of day one, I’m packing in rock wool for bass traps and you can literally feel the room tightening up fast. Design-wise, I’m leaning into raw wood accents with black sound panels, black desk, and a black rack—simple, clean, and slick.
